SkinGuard is a computer-vision smartphone-based application utilising cutting-edge machine learning technologies to identify malignant skin lesions with an accuracy above 96%. It was fully developed and implemented by Topazium and it is intended for easy detection of skin cancer like melanoma to help practitioners (especially GPs) identifying the disease in its early stage.
SkinGuardTM focuses in improving Skin Cancer detection. It has a roadmap of potential implementation that covers:
• Educational Programs: Training the GPs and Dermatologists with challenges of different pigmented skin lesion to improve their accuracy in real situations.
• Tele-dermatology platforms and Reading centres: the system can be integrated into a tele-dermatology platform to organize the flow of images and prioritize those with a higher probability of being related to a
dermatological malignancy.
• Skin Lesion Evolution: The tracking of a non-critical skin lesion where the patient could periodically update the image of a specific pigmented lesion, delivering alerts to the general practitioner or
dermatologists when a negative trend is identified, allowing an early diagnosis.
• Patient Profile: Enabling the patients tracking of different skin lesion and implementing age evaluation functionalities to recommend skincare treatments or advising about the UV incidence of a specific
location thanks to geolocation.
• RWD/RWE: Collection of data and patterns relative to the evolution of skin lesions, from non-critical to potentially malign, allowing reorientations of Product Portfolio or Indications.
